Job Title: Operations Officer – Telecom Interconnect Exchange

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Operations Officer with hands-on experience in telecom interconnect exchange operations within the Nigerian telecom ecosystem. The ideal candidate must possess deep technical know-how, a strong understanding of interconnectivity protocols, and the ability to manage end-to-end operational processes across voice, data, and infrastructure systems. This role requires a smart, detail-oriented professional who can ensure the smooth, secure, and efficient functioning of our interconnect exchange platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical & Operational Management:
- Manage daily operations of the telecom interconnect exchange, ensuring 24/7 uptime and operational efficiency.
- Ensure seamless interconnection with local and international carriers, MNOs, ISPs, and regulatory bodies.
- Analyze call detail records (CDRs) and traffic reports to detect anomalies, fraud, or technical issues.
Interconnect & Regulatory Compliance:
- Coordinate interconnect agreements and maintain regulatory compliance in line with NCC and other relevant bodies.
- Ensure accurate billing, reconciliation, and dispute resolution between carriers and interconnect partners.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation of interconnect routes, agreements, and traffic records.
Process Optimization & Reporting:
- Identify areas for operational improvement and implement industry best practices to optimize performance.
- Develop and generate periodic reports on interconnect usage, capacity, revenue, and system performance.
- Support the finance and billing departments with traffic summaries, partner invoices, and rate validations.
Team & Vendor Coordination:
- Liaise with network engineering, NOC, IT, and support teams to resolve technical incidents and service degradation.
- Interface with vendors and OEMs to manage maintenance contracts, upgrades, and support tickets.
- Assist in capacity planning and scaling of interconnect systems in response to network growth.
Requirements:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical/Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4–6 years of hands-on experience in telecom interconnect operations within Nigeria.
- Solid understanding of telecom switching, signaling systems (SS7, SIP, H.323), NGN/IMS architecture, and VoIP protocols.
- Experience with Softswitches, Session Border Controllers (SBCs), and network monitoring tools is essential.
Technical Competencies:
- Proficient in telecom traffic analysis and fraud detection.
- Familiar with telecom regulatory frameworks and NCC interconnect guidelines.
- Skilled in managing telecom billing systems and CDR platforms.
- Working knowledge of Linux-based telecom platforms and IP networking (TCP/IP, DNS, BGP).
