Job Summary
The Junior Accountant supports the finance and accounts department by maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with routine accounting tasks, and ensuring compliance with company policies and statutory regulations. This role requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work under supervision while learning and growing in the field of accounting.
Key Responsibilities
- Bookkeeping & Data Entry
- Record daily financial transactions (sales, expenses, payments, receipts) in accounting software.
- Post journal entries and reconcile ledgers.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Assist in preparing and processing supplier invoices, staff reimbursements, and petty cash.
- Follow up on receivables and maintain an updated debtor/creditor schedule.
- Bank & Cash Reconciliation
- Prepare and reconcile daily/weekly bank statements and cash flow records.
- Ensure accuracy in cash deposits and withdrawals.
- Financial Reporting
- Support the preparation of monthly management accounts.
- Assist with budget monitoring and variance analysis.
- Audit & Compliance
- Maintain proper documentation and filing of financial records.
- Assist in both internal and external audits by providing necessary documents and schedules.
- Support Role
- Provide assistance to the Senior Accountant and Finance Manager as needed.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of accounting processes and internal controls.
Qualifications & Skills
- B.Sc./HND in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 0–2 years of accounting/finance experience (internship experience acceptable).
- Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or Odoo).
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
