Role Summary
HFN is seeking a driven and entrepreneurial Head of Real Estate Investments to spearhead our real estate deal sourcing, structuring, capital strategy, and portfolio growth. You’ll be instrumental in launching Nest by HFN, our flagship investment platform, and play a central role in transforming HFN into a dominant player in residential, commercial, and hospitality assets across Africa.
We’re looking for a dynamic thinker, someone who combines sharp financial acumen, investor empathy, and operational execution. This is a rare opportunity to build from the ground up while shaping the future of accessible real estate investing.
Responsibilities
Investment Strategy & Execution
- Design and execute investment strategies across residential, hospitality, commercial, and mixed-use projects.
- Lead financial modeling, feasibility assessments, and risk-return analysis.
- Structure and negotiate real estate deals, joint ventures, and co-investments.
- Maintain an updated pipeline of investment opportunities and strategic partnerships.
Capital Formation & Fundraising
- Develop capital-raising materials (pitch decks, memos, data rooms)
- Engage directly with LPs, HNIs, DFIs, and institutional investors
- Support fundraising activities for future HFN vehicles, including Nest’s retail investment platform
Portfolio & Platform Development
- Launch the Nest by HFN platform MVP alongside tech and product teams
- Build investment theses and content pipelines for platform users
- Oversee performance of existing assets, optimize returns, and drive exits where applicable
Stakeholder & Team Leadership
- Interface with regulators, brokers, legal counsel, and lenders
- Build and lead a team of analysts, associates, and deal managers
- Establish rigorous documentation, governance, and reporting standards
- Support broader HFN strategic initiatives, investor relations, and market positioning
Requirements
Must-Haves:
- 4–6 years of experience in real estate private equity, investment banking, or structured finance
- Proven experience in modeling and evaluating complex real estate transactions
- Strong understanding of Nigerian and international real estate markets
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a high tolerance for ambiguity and a bias for action
Nice-to-Haves:
- Experience launching or scaling investment products/platforms
- Exposure to real estate proptech or digital investment platforms
- CFA, CAIA, or MBA (advantageous but not required)
What Success Looks Like (First 12 Months)
- Launch the Nest by HFN MVP investment platform
- Build a sustainable pipeline of qualified investment opportunities
- Raise first tranche of capital from early investor network
- Deliver structured internal frameworks for investment reviews and reporting
- Drive at least one successfully executed transaction (residential, commercial, or hospitality)
