Our client is seeking an experienced Head of Operations to lead the end-to-end planning, delivery, and execution of a large-scale international exhibition and conference in Nigeria. This senior role combines the technical expertise of an EPCM project manager with the operational leadership required for major international events.

The successful candidate will have a proven background in exhibitions and event organization and will be responsible for ensuring that all operational, technical, and logistical elements of the event are delivered to world-class standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the overall operations strategy, planning, and execution of the exhibition and conference.
• Manage and coordinate all project phases, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and aligned with safety, engineering, and security standards.
• Engage and liaise with key stakeholders, including government authorities, military, industry representatives, and international partners.
• Oversee venue operations, contractor management, health & safety, accreditation, crowd management, and security protocols.
• Develop and implement contingency planning and risk management strategies.
• Manage multidisciplinary teams, including operations staff, contractors, and third-party suppliers.
• Ensure compliance with all local regulatory requirements and international best practices.
• Report regularly to senior leadership on project milestones, budgets, risks, and outcomes.

Requirements

• Mandatory: Proven background as an Exhibition/Event Organiser , with experience leading large-scale international events.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in event operations, project management, or EPCM-related roles.
• Strong track record of delivering complex projects in challenging environments.
• Demonstrated ability to manage high-level stakeholders, including government and security agencies.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills; able to motivate and lead cross-functional teams.
• Strong financial acumen with experience in managing multimillion-dollar budgets.
• Knowledge of international health, safety, and security standards for large-scale events.
Experience in Sub-Saharan Africa or emerging markets (preferred).
