Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Hardware and Software Engineer to design and develop the hardware and software components of Icheta’s wearable logistics and surveillance solutions. The ideal candidate will have expertise in embedded systems, real-time streaming, and secure software development, with a focus on creating user-friendly, culturally relevant technology for Nigerian users. This role involves collaboration with product teams and external partners to deliver scalable, secure, and innovative solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Hardware Development

• Design and Prototyping: Develop lightweight, wearable devices with integrated cameras, connectivity modules, and power-efficient systems tailored for logistics and surveillance use cases.
• Component Integration: Incorporate tamper-proof sensors, cameras, and connectivity features into wearable designs, ensuring comfort and durability for users in diverse environments.
• Firmware Development: Create firmware for device activation, remote control features, and secure data transmission, adhering to high security standards.
Testing and Validation: Build and test prototypes under various conditions (e.g., sunlight, low-light, wet environments) to ensure reliability and compliance with safety standards.

Software Development

• Real-Time Streaming: Develop secure, real-time streaming systems for video and location data, accessible via web and mobile interfaces with multilingual support (e.g., Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba, Pidgin English).
• Backend Integration: Build a secure backend to manage data storage, user access, and third-party integrations, ensuring seamless operation with Icheta’s e-commerce and logistics platforms.
• AI and Analytics: Implement AI-driven features for anomaly detection, route optimization, and performance analytics, enhancing platform functionality.
• API Development: Create APIs to support third-party integrations, enabling data sharing and scalability for logistics and enterprise clients.
Compliance and Security: Ensure software complies with data protection regulations (e.g., NDPR, GDPR), incorporating encryption and privacy features like data anonymization.

Collaboration and Deployment

• Partner Coordination: Work with hardware manufacturing partners to align on design and production requirements, ensuring cost-effective and scalable solutions.
• Pilot and Rollout Support: Support pilot deployments and scaling of wearable solutions, incorporating user feedback to refine functionality and user experience.
• User-Centric Design: Incorporate intuitive interfaces, voice prompts, and offline capabilities to ensure accessibility for tech-illiterate users in Nigerian markets.
Documentation: Provide technical documentation and training materials for hardware and software components, supporting vendor and user onboarding.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

Experience:

• 5+ years in embedded systems design and software development.
• Experience with wearable technology, IoT devices, or real-time streaming systems.
Familiarity with hardware prototyping and testing in real-world conditions.

Technical Skills:

• Hardware: Proficiency in designing and integrating cameras, connectivity modules (e.g., Wi-Fi, LTE), and power systems; expertise in firmware development (e.g., C/C++).
• Software: Strong skills in Python, JavaScript, or Go for backend development; experience with video streaming protocols (e.g., RTSP, WebRTC); familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
• AI/Analytics: Knowledge of AI/ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) for analytics and anomaly detection.
Security: Expertise in encryption, secure API design, and compliance with data protection regulations.
