About Us

Oya Abeo is a bold, West African-inspired fashion and textile brand known for hand-dyed prints, cultural storytelling, and ethically made garments. We work directly with local artisans to craft sustainable loungewear, resortwear, and celebratory fashion that honors tradition while embracing modern silhouettes.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft precise flat patterns based on designer sketches, measurements, and tech packs
• Translate digital and hand-drawn designs into workable paper or digital patterns
• Modify existing patterns to improve fit, style, or production efficiency
• Collaborate with our designer and sample maker to ensure ideal fabric drape, fit, and finishing
• Conduct fittings and make necessary pattern adjustments based on model feedback
• Prepare and label final patterns for production, including grainlines, notches, and seam allowances
• Maintain a clear archive of patterns for reorders and future iterations
Work with local tailors and production supervisors to troubleshoot fit or construction issues during production

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in fashion pattern making (formal or informal training)
• Strong understanding of garment construction, draping, and finishing techniques
• Proficiency in manual pattern drafting (CAD experience a bonus)
• Experience working with multiple fabric types, especially cotton, linen, and silk
• A sharp eye for fit, proportion, and detail
• Ability to work quickly while maintaining high-quality output
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Experience with small-batch or artisan production a plus
Knowledge of traditional West African silhouettes, wrap garments, or textiles is a plus
