Job Summary:
The Facility Officer is responsible for the day-to-day management and maintenance of the hospital's physical infrastructure, equipment, and utilities to ensure that facilities are safe, functional, compliant with regulations, and conducive to delivering high-quality healthcare services. The role includes both reactive and preventive maintenance, vendor management, space management, compliance monitoring, and support for all hospital departments in relation to facility-related needs.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Facility Maintenance & Operations
- Oversee the routine maintenance of hospital facilities, including air conditioning systems, electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC, elevators, medical gas lines, and water supply systems.
- Perform periodic inspections to identify areas needing repair or improvement.
- Diagnose and repair faults in AC units, split systems, central cooling systems, and general mechanical or electrical systems.
- Coordinate and supervise maintenance and repair activities either through internal technicians or third-party contractors.
- Ensure minimal downtime for all critical facility systems through timely and effective maintenance.
2. Preventive Maintenance
- Implement and monitor the Preventive Maintenance Schedule (PMS) for all critical hospital equipment and infrastructure.
- Keep detailed records of maintenance schedules, reports, and certifications.
- Ensure that all fire safety systems, generators, air conditioning units, and emergency equipment are tested and operational.
3. Vendor and Contractor Management
- Liaise with external contractors for specialized repairs or installations.
- Oversee contractor work on-site to ensure compliance with scope, quality, and safety standards.
- Assist in procurement specifications for maintenance supplies and service contracts.
4. Regulatory Compliance & Safety
- Ensure the hospital’s physical facilities comply with all relevant regulatory standards, including health and safety codes, environmental regulations, and fire codes.
- Support environmental and workplace safety initiatives, including waste management and emergency evacuation protocols.
Educational Qualifications:
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil), Estate Management, Facility Management, or a related field.
- Professional certifications (e.g., IFMA Certified Facility Manager, COREN registration, PMP) are an added advantage.
Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in facility management or maintenance in a hospital, healthcare setting, or similarly regulated environment.
- Demonstrated technical proficiency in air conditioning systems and general building maintenance.
- Familiarity with hospital safety protocols, infection control measures, and healthcare regulatory requirements.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of air conditioning systems, cooling units, HVAC maintenance, and fault diagnostics.
- General maintenance skills covering electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, and generator systems.
- Excellent problem-solving and technical troubleshooting skills.
- Strong organizational and project management abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and facility management software.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage teams and contractors effectively.
