Syarpa is a fast-growing fintech building modern financial solutions for Nigerians and Africans. We empower users to save, invest, and transact across currencies through a suite of innovative products—Rebble (on/off-ramp crypto trading), Bloom (savings and investments), Saturn (digital asset investing), and Scorepal (AI-powered robo-advisory).
We are seeking a visionary Head of Engineering to lead the engineering function across all Syarpa products. This individual will be instrumental in building high-performing teams, refining our technical architecture, and ensuring the secure, scalable delivery of our fintech and blockchain-based platforms.
As Head of Engineering, you will work closely with the Product, Design, and Executive teams to shape the future of Syarpa’s technology. Your leadership will directly impact how we scale infrastructure, improve performance, and implement robust security standards—particularly across our blockchain-enabled systems such as Rebble and Saturn.
Key Responsibilities:
Define and drive the engineering vision, architecture, and roadmap aligned with company goals.
Lead and grow a high-performing engineering team across backend, frontend, mobile, DevOps, and blockchain streams.
Oversee the development and deployment of scalable, secure, and maintainable systems.
Ensure agile software delivery, product quality, and release management best practices.
Collaborate with product, design, and executive teams to shape strategic decisions.
Mentor and develop team leads and engineers to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Evaluate and implement new tools, technologies, and development best practices.
Guide the integration and evolution of blockchain infrastructure (e.g., Ethereum, EVM-compatible chains).
Support and lead initiatives related to smart contracts, token systems, on-chain transactions, and consensus mechanisms.
Required Experience:
5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
3+ years in engineering leadership (e.g., Tech Lead, Engineering Manager, Director).
Strong hands-on experience in backend/frontend/mobile or DevOps systems.
Proven track record of managing cross-functional technical teams.
Solid experience with blockchain protocols, smart contract development, or DeFi systems.
Familiarity with Solidity, Web3.js, Ethers.js, Node.js, or Go is a plus.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure), and system scaling.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
Deep understanding of software engineering principles and system design.
Strong communication, leadership, and project management skills.
Knowledge of blockchain architecture, consensus algorithms, and security implications.
Ability to align engineering work with business objectives.
Experience working in a fast-paced startup or tech-driven company is preferred.
Bonus: Contributions to open-source blockchain projects or DeFi applications.
