Our chief storyteller and cheerleader, the ideal candidate holds our social, digital and traditional (media and public relations) presence together ensuring that our organisation and mandate is well represented, our programmes and milestones are creatively communicated, our brand is top-of-mind and image is protected in line with our values. The Communications Coordinator will play a key role in shaping She Writes Woman's public image, advocacy messaging, and stakeholder engagement. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the organization’s communication strategy across platforms and supporting storytelling for donor reporting, campaigns, media, and the upcoming 10-Year Impact Report.

Job Description/Requirements
- Design and execute an organisation-wide communications strategy that aligns with SWW’s advocacy goals and values
- Create compelling, accurate, and inclusive content for online and offline communities, social media, website, press releases, newsletters, blogs, and reports
- Lead storytelling efforts across the organisation, working closely with programs, helpline, and advocacy teams to translate impact into human-centred narratives
- Draft talking points, media briefs, speeches, and op-eds for the management and key spokespeople
- Manage relationships with media partners, journalists, PR agencies, and visibility vendors
- Coordinate design and dissemination of the 10-Year Impact Report and related legacy content and events
- Ensure consistency in tone, language, brand, and visuals across all communications outputs
- Support internal communications, including team updates, email briefs, and community-of-practice engagement Monitor media trends and advise on risk and reputation management
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Communications, Media, Journalism, Public Relations, Development Studies, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years’ professional experience in communications, preferably in NGOs, INGOs, advocacy, or social impact organisations
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills (English); fluency in at least one Nigerian language is a plus
- Working understanding of mental health advocacy, rights-based language, and inclusive messaging
- Experience working with design and media teams to develop branded materials and campaigns
- Proven track record in managing social media, digital campaigns, and media engagement
- Solid project management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple deadlines Abuja-based and able to work in-person with occasional travel across project sites
Desirable (Nice-to-Haves):
- Background in communications for mental health, disability rights, or gender-focused programs
- Experience working with international donor requirements (e.g. narrative reporting, communications visibility, branding guides)
- Familiarity with multimedia content creation (videos, podcasts, animations)
- Photography, graphic design, or visual storytelling capabilities
- Prior engagement with international NGOs, donor agencies, or UN bodies
- Understanding of safeguarding, ethics, and trauma-informed communications
