Lagos Free Zone (A Tolaram Group Enterprise), we are the first private Free Zone in Nigeria. Role Overview : The occupant of this role is responsible for the technical oversight of the assigned civil projects, ensuring effective and efficient execution of all projects, with safety and compliance highly prioritized as well as quality of deliverables, within an agreed budget. Manage all resources and stakeholders with effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Execution & Technical Oversight
- Supervise and monitor the execution of roads (rigid & flexible pavements), stormwater drains, utility corridors, underground services, and building structures.
- Review and validate construction drawings, specifications, and BOQs to ensure alignment with project requirements.
- Plan and execute daily construction activities in coordination with contractors, ensuring timelines and milestones are met. Ensure construction is carried out as per industry best practices, engineering standards, and regulatory codes.
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce strict adherence to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards across all construction activities.
- Ensure all workers and subcontractors comply with site safety protocols, PPE use, and approved method statements.
- Actively participate in toolbox talks, site safety audits, and risk assessments. Immediately report and help mitigate unsafe acts or incidents, promoting a zero-incident culture.
Quality Assurance & Documentation
- Implement and monitor QA/QC procedures and conduct quality checks during and after construction. Coordinate with quality engineers and third-party inspectors to ensure all work meets required standards and approvals.
Cost & Resource Management
- Track project costs, material usage, and productivity to stay within budget while maintaining high quality.
- Coordinate timely procurement and delivery of materials and equipment to avoid delays. Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising on engineering integrity or safety.
Stakeholder & Team Coordination
- Interface with consultants, contractors, utility providers, and internal teams to resolve technical issues.
- Provide technical support and direction to junior engineers and site supervisors. Represent the engineering team in project meetings, design reviews, and site walkthroughs with clients and stakeholders.
Sustainability & Regulatory Adherence
- Ensure compliance with local building regulations, environmental clearances, and permitting requirements.
- Recommend sustainable design or construction alternatives when feasible. Drive continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned and implementing them in future phases.
The Ideal Candidate for the Role:
- B.Tech/B.Sc in Civil Engineering; COREN certification preferred.
- 6–10 years of relevant experience in infrastructure and industrial projects.
- Hands-on knowledge of AutoCAD, MS Project/Primavera.
- Deep understanding of HSE, quality control, and construction best practices.
- Strong organizational skills and an eye for detail.
- A self-starter with high ownership and integrity. Experience working on large-scale infrastructure projects like roads, buildings, or free zone developments is a plus.
