At Nuxalle , we’re passionate about using technology to drive digital transformation across Africa. One of our core products is Nucord — a mobile-first inventory and sales management app designed for small businesses and entrepreneurs across the continent.

Right now, millions of SMEs in Africa still manage their sales, inventory, and finances using pen and paper or basic spreadsheets. The result? Missed opportunities, errors, and lost revenue.

Our mission with Nucord is simple:

Empower SMEs with a simple, affordable tool that helps them track inventory, manage sales, record expenses, and make smarter business decisions — even in areas with low internet connectivity.

We’re starting with Nigeria and aiming to serve 10,000 users in year 1 and 5 00,000+ SMEs over 3 years .

Who we’re looking for

We’re seeking a Volunteer Backend Developer to join our early product team and help us build out the core backend powering Nucord.

Tech stack

Frontend Next.js (React)

Backend Node.js (TypeScript preferred) OR Python (FastAPI)

Database PostgreSQL

Realtime Socket.io / WebSockets

Auth JWT-based authentication

Hosting AWS / Render /

What you’ll do

• Build REST/GraphQL APIs to power our mobile and web apps
• Implement realtime features for inventory and sales sync
• Optimize database performance (PostgreSQL)
• Implement secure authentication & authorization
• Collaborate with our small team on backend architecture and product roadmap
Write clean, maintainable, testable code

Who you are

• 1-3+ years of backend development experience
• Strong with Node.js (TypeScript) or Python (FastAPI)
• Experience working with relational databases (PostgreSQL)
• Comfortable building APIs and working with realtime systems
• Interested in building products for emerging markets / African SMEs
Self-driven and collaborative — you take initiative and love learning

Compensation

This is a volunteer role for now — but compensation will be discussed based on your contribution and as we raise funds and move forward. We value the time and energy of our early contributors and want to grow together.
