Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Accountant to join our finance team in the skincare and aesthetic dermatology industry. The successful candidate will support daily accounting operations, maintain accurate financial records, assist in preparing reports, and ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies. This role is vital in ensuring the smooth operation of our financial processes and contributing to overall business efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Record Keeping
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including general ledgers, sales ledgers, and transaction journals. Ensure proper documentation and filing of all financial transactions.

2. Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Process supplier invoices, prepare payment vouchers, and manage outgoing payments. Monitor customer accounts, issue invoices, and follow up on outstanding payments.

3. Bank Reconciliations
- Reconcile company bank statements with internal records to ensure accuracy. Investigate and resolve any discrepancies promptly.

4. Payroll Support
- Assist in preparing payroll, ensuring timely and accurate salary processing. Verify employee working hours, overtime, and deductions.

5. Financial Reporting
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports such as income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Provide data analysis support for management decision-making.

6. Budgeting & Forecasting
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts. Track budget performance and highlight variances for management review.

7. Compliance & Audit Support
- Ensure compliance with company financial policies, tax regulations, and statutory requirements. Support internal and external audit processes with required documentation.

8. General Accounting Support
- Provide support to senior accountants and the finance manager as required. Participate in process improvement initiatives within the finance department.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Experience: 2-4 years proven experience as an Assistant Accountant or similar role.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, financial formulas).
- Knowledge: Understanding of Nigerian tax laws, accounting principles (IFRS), and financial regulations.
- Core Skills: Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and organizational abilities.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Integrity: High level of honesty, confidentiality, and professional ethics.
