JOB DESCRIPTION
Our client is a Cash-in-Transit service provider offering secure and efficient logistics solutions. As they expand operations, they are seeking to hire an Accountant.
The Accountant plays a critical role in managing the financial health and integrity of the organization. The role involves overseeing daily accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with tax and regulatory obligations, and supporting management with strategic financial insights tailored to the cash-in-transit industry.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
1. General Accounting & Financial Management
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger and financial records.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Reconcile bank statements and client account transactions.
- Vet and prepare monthly bills for sub-contractors.
2. Budgeting and Forecasting
- Develop, monitor, and analyze budgets.
- Provide cash flow projections and recommend cost optimization measures.
- Monitor variances between budgeted and actual financial performance.
3. Revenue & Client Account Reconciliation
- Ensure accurate billing, invoicing, and reconciliation of client accounts.
- Oversee revenue recognition processes specific to client cash movement services.
- Liaise with operations to ensure service documentation matches financial records.
4. Compliance & Internal Controls
- Ensure full compliance with tax laws (FIRS, LIRS), financial regulations, and audit requirements.
- Maintain internal financial control systems to prevent fraud and misappropriation of funds.
- Coordinate statutory and internal audits and respond to audit findings.
5. Payroll & Staff Accounts Oversight
- Review payroll processing and ensure timely remittance of statutory deductions (PAYE, Pensions, NHF, etc.).
- Monitor salary advances, staff loans, and expense reimbursements.
6. Vendor and Procurement Accounting
- Review vendor invoices, approve payments, and reconcile supplier accounts.
- Work with procurement and logistics teams to ensure proper inventory and asset accounting.
7. Team Leadership & Reporting
- Supervise junior accountants and data entry staff.
- Prepare periodic financial reports for senior management and board meetings.
Requirements & Qualifications
- B.Sc./HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum 3 - 5 years accounting experience, with at least 2 in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of cash operations, banking procedures, and financial regulations.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, or ERP systems).
- ·High level of integrity, analytical thinking, and attention to detail.
