Role Description
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Water Engineer to design, implement, and oversee water supply, treatment, and sanitation systems across various infrastructure and development projects in Nigeria. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of water resource management, hydraulic engineering, and sustainable design practices suited to urban and rural settings.
This role requires both technical expertise and practical field experience to deliver solutions that improve access to clean water, wastewater management, and irrigation systems.
Qualifications
- Experience in Wastewater Treatment and Water Treatment
- Proficiency in Water Supply and Water Distribution systems
- Knowledge of Pump Stations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Ability to work on-site in Port Harcourt
- Experience in the manufacturing or water management industry is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree is a plus)
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in water-related infrastructure projects
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D), GIS tools, and hydraulic modeling software
- Strong understanding of Nigerian water regulatory frameworks and environmental standards
- Experience with rural or urban water supply systems and community-level infrastructure
- Excellent project management and stakeholder coordination skills
- Ability to write and interpret technical reports, designs, and specifications Knowledge of health and safety practices for construction and environmental projects
Preferred Qualifications
- Registered with COREN or pursuing professional certification
- Prior experience working with donor-funded or NGO-led water projects Experience working in underserved or remote regions in Nigeria
Job Responsibilities
- Plan, design, and supervise construction of water and sanitation infrastructure, including: Water supply networks, Boreholes, reservoirs, and pumping stations, Wastewater treatment plants and Drainage and flood management systems
- Conduct site investigations, water quality testing, and hydrological assessments
- Develop hydraulic models using software such as EPANET, WaterCAD, or HEC-RAS
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings, reports, and BOQs
- Collaborate with government bodies, NGOs, and contractors to meet project milestones
- Ensure all works comply with engineering and environmental standards
- Monitor construction and field activities to ensure quality control and adherence to timelines Provide training or technical support to local stakeholders or field personnel
