The Van Sales Representative (VSR) grows numeric & weighted distribution, executes perfect store standards, acquires and services retail customers (open markets, neighborhood stores, supermarkets, kiosks), and ensures timely remittance and accurate records.

Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities:
Route-to-Market & Selling
- Execute daily route plan (coverage, call frequency, call sequence) to meet outlet visit targets.
- Prospect and open new outlets; collect complete customer data and KYC where required.
- Sell full cereal portfolio using objectives per SKU, pack size, and price point; upsell bundles/mix.
- Negotiate shelf space, secondary placements, and point-of-sale execution per brief.
- Manage orders, issuance of invoices/receipts, and delivery from van stock in one visit (“sell & deliver”). Monitor competitor pricing, promos, and provide timely feedback.
Merchandising & Visibility
- Achieve planogram standards: facings, eye-level placement, FIFO/FEFO rotation.
- Set up POS materials (wobblers, shelf strips, danglers) and ensure hygiene/cleanliness of display. Conduct on-the-spot stock checks; remove damaged/expired packs and complete documentation.
Cash & Stock Control
- Maintain accurate van loading/unloading with the warehouse team; reconcile start- and end-of-day stock.
- Collect cash/transfer per company policy; ensure same-day remittance and documentation.
- Prevent stock shrinkage; report variances immediately with supporting evidence. Use a hand-held/ERP/app to post sales, receipts, returns, and route notes in real time.
Customer Relationship & Service
- Build strong retailer relationships; handle complaints and product education (taste, nutrition, pack formats).
- Monitor OSA (On-Shelf Availability) and sell gap-closing replenishments. Manage returns per policy (damages, near-expiry, wrong deliveries).
Compliance, Safety & Assets
- Drive safely with a valid driver’s license; comply with FRSC/LASTMA rules.
- Conduct daily vehicle checks (tyres, lights, horn, brake, oil, coolant); keep van clean and branded correctly.
- Adhere to food safety/handling, HSE, and quality standards (no exposure to moisture/heat, secure packaging). Follow anti-bribery, anti-corruption, and data protection policies.
Reporting & Insights
- Submit accurate EOD reports: sales vs. target, collections, coverage, merchandising photos, competitor intel. Recommend micro-promos, price packs, and route optimization based on sell-out patterns.
