The Department of Marine Technology at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) invites applications for a PhD position in Optimal Fleet Renewal Strategies for Zero Emission Shipping. This position is part of the FME MarTrans research center, an extensive 8-year collaboration involving 65 partners from the maritime industry and academia, funded by the Research Council of Norway.

Project Focus

– Strategic fleet renewal and retrofitting to meet future zero-emission regulations

– Analysis of interactions between technical, commercial, and regulatory frameworks

– Alignment of shipping operations with the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) 2050 zero-emission targets

Requirements

– Master’s degree (MSc) in Industrial Engineering or a closely related field

– Preferred Background In The Maritime Industry Or Logistics

– Proficiency in optimization and operations research

Start date is flexible.
