JOB DESCRIPTION – MACHINERY ENGINEER

LOCATION: LAGOS, NIGERIA

Work with the respective Supervisor to provide technical support, new machine assembly, warranty support and or major contract support within the region. Act as Quality Control Assurance for the respective coverage areas. Act as mentor and evaluator for the national engineers. Provide administrative support as may be assigned from time to time.

• Plan and co-ordinate field / workshop service operations on an ongoing basis.
• Ensure there is adequate and appropriate tooling and workforce for effective on the spot repairs on Caterpillar equipment. Requirements should be compiled for consideration and procurement.
• Establish technical and skills improvement training needs for field / workshop service technicians and organize their implementation as appropriate.
• Ensure proper assessment, evaluation and costing of all field / workshop service jobs.
• Ensure that established safety specifications and job performance standards are adhered to.
• Monitor and keep in control of all work in progress to ensure that requirements for the jobs are adequately attended to. While all jobs are promptly closed as at when completed.
• Prepare monthly reports to enumerate all activities within the field / workshop service operations.
• Implement approved repair actions that may arise from Warranty, PIP and similar programs.
• Map out strategies for ensuring Caterpillar standards are met in all services rendered to customers.
• Visit customers regularly to maintain good business relationships and respond adequately to their needs.
• Project MNL business capabilities to ensure getting more business into the field service and workshop portfolio.
• Ensure adequate maintenance of all MNL own use vehicles. Ensure appropriate documentation and invoice of all expenses on vehicle repairs.

• Government agencies and Consultants on Safety, Sanitation and Environment

Degree / Diploma in engineering with at least 3 years’ relevant experience. Relevant experience and good knowledge of Caterpillar service procedures and operations. It must be articulate, computer literate and possess interpersonal skills.
