Key Responsibilities:
- Legal Support:
- Assist in providing legal advice to management and departments on business transactions, legal rights, and obligations.
- Draft and review legal documents including agreements, MOUs, lease documents, and service contracts.
- Contract Management:
- Maintain an organized system of physical and digital records for contracts and legal documents.
- Track contract renewals and expirations and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
- Land & Property Documentation:
- Support in verifying land ownership and lease agreements.
- Liaise with surveyors, community representatives, and government authorities on land-related issues.
- Compliance Monitoring:
- Monitor company operations to ensure compliance with environmental, labor, and tax laws.
- Prepare and file required legal and regulatory documents with appropriate agencies.
- Litigation & Dispute Support:
- Assist in managing litigation files and liaising with external counsel.
- Prepare documentation and evidence for court cases and dispute resolution.
- Corporate Governance:
- Support board and management meetings by preparing legal documentation and maintaining statutory registers.
- Ensure proper filing of board resolutions and minutes.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) and Barrister-at-Law (B.L) from a recognized institution's completion is mandatory.
Experience:
- 2–4 years post-call legal experience in a corporate or law firm setting. Experience in agribusiness, FMCG, or the manufacturing sector is an advantage.
- Membership of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
Key Skills:
- Strong knowledge of Nigerian corporate, labor, land, and commercial law.
- Excellent legal drafting and research skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and legal research tools.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work under pressure.
