Background Information
Jireh Doo Foundation (JDF) is a National Non-government organization with over 15 years’ existence and actively intervening in the humanitarian response in the North East and other parts of the country since 2014. JDF works in 5 thematic areas of Gender and Humanitarian response, HIV and Health, Child Development, Research and Information, Single parents, and covers four states of Borno, Gombe, Nasarawa, and Benue.
Jireh Doo Foundations’ humanitarian intervention in the North East of Nigeria spans largely across two-state, Borno and Gombe states, and has been working actively in the sectors of water sanitation and hygiene (WASH), Nutrition, food security and livelihood, Protection, and Gender-Based Violence (GBV).
Jireh Doo Foundation is seeking candidates with a minimum of two years of experience working on wash-related issues for the implementation of NCA funded project in Dikwa LGA of Borno state.
Duties and Responsibilities

• Work with 50 displaced households or 400/500 persons that you will mobilize to take actions to reduce and prevent the spread of diseases
• Plan and carry out promotion on improving the IDPs and communities’ risky knowledge and behaviors on water, sanitation, hygiene (WASH) and ensuring appropriate use and maintenance of WASH facilities;
Identify and continuously monitor key high-risk hygiene practices to be addressed and carry out appropriate community mobilization activities to promote safe practices using the following methods:

• House to house visits, community meetings, focused group discussions/sessions.
• Behaviors change campaigns within the adult and children population in the camps, communities, and school-based on thematic focus.
• Regular community-wide environmental cleaning campaign and promoting safe waste disposal mechanism to eliminate risks of vectors; and maintaining the hygienic conditions of water points by eliminating contamination sources.
• Water containers or jerry can clean-up campaign (Safe water chain), Handwashing campaign, Menstrual hygiene management promotion.
• Carry out other issue-based community outreach and mobilization activities.
• Use of hygiene promotion information, educational materials (IECs).

• Record data on hygiene routine activities and the conditions of water, sanitation, and hygiene facilities in the communities/camps, mobilize required action with the WASH Committee, and provide updates to JDF.
• Support the registration and hygiene kits distribution activities.
• Encourage community involvement and participation in the designing and delivery of essential WASH services and facilities.
• Support JDF in the gathering of baseline data, the profile of beneficiaries, and needs of the affected community. Information collected must be reliable/trustworthy and accurate.
You will act as a link between JDF WASH, Nutrition, Protection, and the affected population at camp/community level by:

• Supporting the required community mobilization activities.
• Liaising with JDF staff.
• Liaise with community leaders and other sectors and agencies working locally.
  

Qualification and Experience
Essential
Residents of Dikwa
Ability to read and write in English
Previous hygiene promotion experience
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Sensitive to cultural differences and an understanding of the political and ethical issues
• Fluency in English (written & spoken), Ability to communicate in Hausa/Shuwa/Fulani
Knowledge of health programs.
