Job Overview
We are looking for a creative and tech-savvy Digital Communications & Design Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing our website, designing visually compelling content, and supporting our communication efforts through strategic storytelling.
This role sits at the intersection of technology, design, and narrative, playing a vital part in how our brand is perceived online and how we engage our stakeholders through digital platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Website Management
- Maintain and update the organization’s website to ensure content is accurate, engaging, and up to date.
- Work with internal teams to ensure new content (blog posts, event updates, reports, etc.) is properly formatted and published.
- Monitor website performance and analytics; suggest improvements to enhance user experience and SEO.
- Troubleshoot issues related to the website in collaboration with web hosting providers or developers.
- Graphic Design & Visual Content
- Design engaging digital and print materials including social media graphics, reports, flyers, event banners, and newsletters.
- Create branded templates for internal and external communications.
- Edit and produce short videos or motion graphics for storytelling and campaigns (optional but a plus).
- Digital Communications & Storytelling
- Collaborate with the communications team to develop compelling stories that reflect our work, impact, and mission.
- Support the creation and scheduling of content for email campaigns, blog posts, and social media.
- Assist in capturing and curating visual assets (photos, videos) from field activities and events.
- Align design and messaging with brand guidelines and strategic communication goals.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with programme, fundraising, and leadership teams to visualize data and craft impact narratives. Provide technical and design support for virtual events, webinars, and presentations.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Graphic Design, Web Development, Media, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in website management and graphic design, preferably in a nonprofit or communications-focused role.
- Proficiency in WordPress, Squarespace, or similar CMS platforms.
- Strong skills in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) or Canva.
- Excellent written and visual storytelling ability.
- Familiarity with Mailchimp, Google Analytics, SEO, and social media scheduling tools.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask. Creative thinker with a passion for making information visually engaging and accessible.
Desirable Attributes
- Experience with photography, video editing, or animation.
- Interest in social impact, youth development, or civic engagement. Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
