Our client operates a diversified holding company pioneering the next frontier of strategic investments across sustainability, energy, security, agriculture, and capital markets. Headquartered in Nigeria and operating across key regional corridors, and is the parent company of four high-impact subsidiaries.
They are seeking a knowledgeable and impact-driven Development Economist who would be part of the Business Development team to work across multiple subsidiaries, with a primary focus on our policy implementation, security, and consultancy arm. The role involves conducting economic research, evaluating development interventions, and advising on inclusive and sustainable growth strategies. The candidate will provide insights that inform policy, program design, and strategic decision-making aligned with the organization’s broader goals and objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Socio-Economic Research & Analysis
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative research on fields the organization focuses on.
- Analyze economic trends and their impact on security, and development outcomes.
- Prepare policy briefs, reports, and research papers for internal and external stakeholders.
Program Design & Evaluation
- Contribute to the design of development programs, ensuring alignment with evidence-based best practices.
- Evaluate the social and economic impact of projects and initiatives across subsidiaries.
- Develop frameworks for monitoring and evaluating policy and program outcomes.
Policy Advisory & Strategic Input
- Provide policy recommendations grounded in economic research and contextual realities.
- Support stakeholders with insights on regulatory, fiscal, and economic policies affecting project implementation.
- Collaborate with teams to integrate economic perspectives into strategy and planning.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with security and consulting team to ensure economic considerations inform project delivery.
- Liaise with partners, government agencies, and development organizations to align efforts and share insights.
- Represent the organization in policy dialogues, research forums, and stakeholder engagements.
Key Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Development Economics, Economics, Public Policy, or related field.
- 2-4 years of experience in economic research, policy advisory, or development consulting roles.
Technical & Analytical Skills
- Strong skills in data analysis, economic modeling, and impact evaluation methodologies.
- Proficiency in relevant digital, data and analytical tools.
- Experience producing research and policy documents for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Development Knowledge
- Understanding of development challenges in emerging markets, particularly in areas like, security, and policy implementation.
- Familiarity with government frameworks for development planning and monitoring.
Communication & Collaboration
- Excellent communication, writing, and presentation skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex economic insights into practical recommendations.
