Job Title: Conflict Sensitivity & Peacebuilding Advisor
Location: Abuja
Job Summary
The Conflict Sensitivity & Peacebuilding Advisor will provide high-level technical support to strengthen the conflict sensitivity and peacebuilding components of development programming in Nigeria. The role includes conducting context analyses, supporting Do No Harm assessments, and offering recommendations for risk mitigation, resilience-building, and peace-positive outcomes. The advisor will help ensure that programs remain responsive to Nigeria’s evolving security and social dynamics, especially in fragile and conflict-affected areas.
Job Responsibilities
- Conduct conflict analysis and Do No Harm assessments to inform program design and implementation across relevant sectors.
- Provide technical guidance on integrating conflict sensitivity into project design, implementation, and monitoring.
- Advise on peacebuilding approaches, community engagement strategies, and social cohesion measures.
- Support program teams and implementing partners in identifying and mitigating risks to beneficiaries, staff, and stakeholders.
- Draft analytical briefs, reports, and conflict-related advisories for internal stakeholders and relevant development partners
- Participate in field visits to assess conflict dynamics, response strategies, and early warning signals.
- Engage in policy dialogue and donor coordination platforms on peacebuilding, stabilisation, and humanitarian-development nexus issues. Promote integration of gender equality and inclusion in conflict and peacebuilding programming.

Educational Requirements
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in conflict sensitivity, peacebuilding, or related programming in Nigeria or conflict-affected areas.
- Demonstrated understanding of conflict drivers and peacebuilding approaches in the Nigerian context.
- Experience conducting field-based assessments and advising on risk mitigation and adaptive programming.
- Familiarity with community-based peacebuilding, local governance, and inclusion strategies.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, especially for conflict briefings and donor reporting.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including with civil society, local authorities, and vulnerable populations. Ability to translate complex conflict dynamics into actionable programming insights.
