Job Purpose:
To plan, deliver, and assess engaging Biology lessons that develop students’ understanding of living organisms, the environment, and scientific inquiry, in line with the school’s curriculum standards. The teacher will inspire curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills while preparing students for internal and external examinations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Teaching & Learning
- Deliver well-structured and inspiring lessons in Biology across assigned year groups.
- Prepare lesson plans, schemes of work, and learning resources that cater for a range of abilities.
- Teach core topics such as cell biology, genetics, ecology, human physiology, microbiology, and biotechnology.
- Use practical experiments, demonstrations, and fieldwork to enhance conceptual understanding.
- Integrate ICT, simulations, and modern laboratory practices into teaching.
2. Assessment & Reporting
- Design, administer, and grade classwork, homework, projects, and examinations.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and produce termly reports.
- Prepare students effectively for WAEC, NECO, IGCSE, UTME, or other external examinations.
3. Classroom Management & Student Support
- Establish a safe and supportive classroom and laboratory environment.
- Enforce health and safety procedures during practical sessions.
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs.
- Provide academic support and mentoring to struggling or high-achieving students.
4. Curriculum Development & Enrichment
- Contribute to the review and development of the Biology curriculum and resources.
- Organise science-related projects, clubs, or competitions (e.g., Science Fairs, Biology Olympiads).
- Promote cross-curricular links with Chemistry, Physics, and Environmental Science.
- Encourage students to explore careers and applications of Biology in medicine, agriculture, biotechnology, and environmental sciences.
5. Professional Responsibilities
- Attend departmental and staff meetings, training workshops, and continuous professional development (CPD) sessions.
- Collaborate with colleagues and parents to support student progress.
- Uphold the school’s values, policies, and safeguarding standards.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Science Education, or related field (Master’s degree is an advantage).
- Teaching qualification (B.Ed., PGDE, or equivalent) required.
- Minimum 2 years of teaching Biology at secondary level.
- Experience preparing students for external examinations (WAEC/IGCSE/UTME) preferred.
- Competence in laboratory techniques and experimental methods.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: ₦160,000.00 - ₦190,000.00 per month
