We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Position: Accountant
Job Location: Lagos
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and examine accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
- Manage all accounting transactions
- Ensure timely bank payments and monitor bank deposits.
- Handle monthly, quarterly, and annual closings.
- Reconcile accounts payable and receivable.
- Ensure timely submission of tax returns and liaise with external auditors during audits.
- Analyze financial information and summarize financial status.
- Prepare the schedules for statutory remittances (PAYE, WHT, Pension, Company tax, ITF, NSITF, among others) and ensuring timely remittance.
- Maintain a complete and accurate Fixed Asset Register for the company
- Provide technical support and advice on management.
- Participate in financial standards setting and in forecast process.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
Requirements
- HND/Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum of 7 years of proven experience as an Accountant in a trading company or related industry.
- Must have ICAN certification
- Thorough knowledge of Accounting procedures and principles.
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
- Hands-on experience with accounting software packages
- Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
