Research, Teaching & Training

Responsibilities:

• Serve as the WASH technical focal point across field projects, especially those involving hygiene, sanitation access, and MHH (Menstrual Health & Hygiene)
• Provide input into the design of research tools and protocols to ensure alignment with WASH standards
• Review partner and stakeholder documents for technical soundness in water, sanitation, and hygiene infrastructure
• Collaborate with other research and field team members to integrate WASH insights into final deliverables
• Liaise with local government bodies, NGOs, and technical partners to support project goals and foster partnerships
• Monitor WASH field activities and identify risks or opportunities for design improvement
• Stay current with local and global developments in WASH policy, funding, and innovation
• Support the preparation of technical briefs, project documentation, and learning reports
• Contribute to knowledge-sharing and cross-learning across WASH and non-WASH sectors within the team
Ensure WASH-related work is gender-sensitive, inclusive, and socially responsive

Requirements:

• Master’s degree in Public Health, Environmental Health, Civil/Water Engineering, WASH, or a related discipline
• Minimum 6 years’ experience in WASH-related programming, research, or advisory roles
• At least 3 years of field-level engagement in Nigeria or similar contexts
• Familiarity with WASH in schools, community hygiene promotion, menstrual health, or emergency sanitation systems
Proven experience working with NGOs, donor organizations, or local governments in the WASH or public health sector

Skills & Competencies

• Ability to plan, organize, and manage multi-site program activities
• Strong understanding of behavioral drivers of hygiene and sanitation uptake
• Experience preparing technical documents, research summaries, and presentations
• Ability to coordinate with field teams and communicate technical concepts clearly
• Knowledge of Hausa is an added advantage
• Competence in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and mobile data collection tools (e.g., ODK, KoboToolbox)
• Strong interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and cross-cultural communication ability
• Ability to work in fast-paced, collaborative environments and under tight deadlines
