The Department of Electronic Systems at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) invites applications for two PhD candidate positions in the area of nonlinear integrated quantum light sources. The successful candidates will join a dynamic research team focusing on the development of nonlinear integrated photonic circuits utilizing ferroelectric and III-V thin film waveguides and microresonators.
Key Objectives Of The Research Include
– Designing and fabricating nonlinear integrated photonic devices based on materials such as Lithium Niobate and Tantalate.
– Exploring ultra-broadband and efficient continuous and travelling-wave nonlinear integrated photonics.
– Advancing the integration of quantum light sources with III-V gain elements and pump lasers.
– Developing methodologies for optical design and nanofabrication of photonic waveguides and circuits.
– Integrating photonic components with high power semiconductor lasers for practical applications.
Requirements
– A strong academic background in relevant fields such as electrical engineering, photonics, physics, or materials science.
– Demonstrated interest in integrated photonics and quantum optics.
– Creativity, motivation, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
