- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations to assess visual acuity and detect any eye health issues.
- Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other visual aids as needed to correct vision.
- Diagnose and treat eye conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration.
- Provide pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing eye surgeries, such as LASIK or cataract surgery.
- Educate patients about proper eye care practices, including the use of eyewear and contact lenses.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as ophthalmologists and opticians, to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in optometry and incorporate new technologies and techniques into practice.
Requirements
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited optometry school.
- Current state license to practice optometry.
- Comprehensive knowledge of ocular anatomy, physiology, and pathology.
- Experience in conducting eye examinations and diagnosing eye conditions.
- Familiarity with diagnostic tools and equipment used in optometry.
