Job Summary

We are seeking a specialist in eye and vision care. You should be able to diagnose, treat, and prevent eye diseases and disorders, both medically and surgically. You should be trained to perform comprehensive eye exams, prescribe corrective lenses, and conduct various surgical procedures, including cataract surgery, and retinal repair.

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to acute ophthalmology and general ophthalmology and have on-call commitments.
  • Maintain high levels of patient satisfaction in the unit by helping to provide a consultant-led service.
  • To support the medical and surgical management of vitreoretinal (VR) disease and medical retinal ophthalmology patients.
  • To audit outcomes and compare them to the standards currently being set.
  • To help with the teaching and training of junior doctors, optometrists, ophthalmic nurses, and medical students.


Requirements:

  • Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) with specialist training in ophthalmology.
  • Fellowship training or equivalent expertise in cornea and retinal surgery is required.
  • Proven experience in managing vitreoretinal and medical retinal conditions.
  • Strong commitment to patient satisfaction and high-quality care.
  • Demonstrated ability to audit outcomes and implement quality improvements.
  • Excellent teaching and mentoring skills to train junior medical staff and allied professionals.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and manage on-call responsibilities effectively.


Work schedule:

  • 1 week on (24 hours); 3 weeks off
  • Room and board provided.
