Job Description/Requirements
GVA is a telecom operator acting in the provision of very high-speed internet access. It builds, operates and markets its own fibre-to-the-home network under the CANALBOX brand. GVA launched its activities in 2017, and has since been operating in 9 countries (Gabon, Togo, Congo, Ivory Coast, Rwanda, Burkina Faso, Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda) and 14 cities (Libreville, Port-Gentil, Lomé, Pointe-Noire, Brazzaville, Abidjan, Kigali, Rubavu, Ouagadougou, Bobo-Dioulasso, Kinshasa, Goma, Kampala, Cotonou).
As part of its expansion in Nigeria, GVA is looking for Network Engineers based in Ibadan.
Job Duties
The Network Engineer executes and monitors network engineering projects and technical operations for GVA. In coordination with internal operational teams and service providers, he/she ensures that GVA’s products and services are implemented with the required technical level and quality to meet growth objectives. They can work independently or within a team, under the supervision of the Engineering Manager.
Tasks
- Install new POPs or data centers.
- Ensure installation and maintenance of equipment (Data Center, B2B).
- Ensure GVA’s network functions correctly in their country of operation.
- Design B2B solutions.
- Manage incidents on B2B client lines.
- Provision B2B connection equipment.
- Monitor SLA performance for clients.
- Support sales teams when needed at client or prospect sites.
- Provide Level 1 back-office and after-sales support.
- Capture best practices for technical support and service quality management.
- Propose and implement actions for improvements.
- Keep informed of technical developments in their area of expertise.
- Support NOC and infrastructure agents in escalated problem resolution.
- Monitor infrastructure projects and produce progress reports.
- Develop network infrastructure management procedures. Ensure availability during on-call periods for network monitoring and critical incident management.
Responsibilities
- Complete tasks within deadlines according to schedules.
- Report problems to superiors.
- Write activity reports and summaries.
- Generate daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
- Comply with the company's QHSE standards. Follow anti-corruption rules.
Activities may evolve based on service needs.
The position requires strict compliance with current procedures, standards, regulations, and internal policies.
Required profile
Education and experience
- Engineering degree in telecommunications/computer science or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of experience Professional certifications in computer networks would be an advantage.
Skills
- Knowledge of computer and telecom networks.
- Knowledge of protocols such as TCP/IP, DHCP, and routing (OSP, BGP, MPLS)
- Skills in network QoS management
- Knowledge of NetDevOps tools
- Knowledge of FTTH/GPON networks
- Knowledge of network equipment configurations (routers, switches)
- Good knowledge of telecom/ISP products and solutions Knowledge of data center environments
