We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented n8n Automator & AI Workflow Engineer to design, build, and maintain robust automation workflows using n8n, with a focus on integrating OpenAI’s APIs and knowledge systems into our operational stack. This role is perfect for someone with strong automation skills, a creative mind, and a passion for AI-driven solutions to improve productivity, decision-making, and customer engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement automation workflows using n8n, integrating various internal and external systems including CRMs, support platforms, databases, and APIs.
Integrate OpenAI APIs (GPT-4, GPT-4o, embeddings, function calling, etc.) into workflows to power tasks such as summarization, classification, data extraction, and chatbot functionalities.
Build automated knowledge systems that index and retrieve company data (e.g., Notion, Google Drive, Slack) using OpenAI embeddings and vector search.
Develop and maintain custom n8n nodes or extensions as needed to support OpenAI and third-party integrations.
Collaborate with product and operations teams to identify automation opportunities and rapidly prototype solutions.
Monitor automation performance and ensure workflows are secure, scalable, and resilient.
Write clear documentation and provide internal training on created automations and AI-enhanced processes.
Technical Skills:
Strong experience with n8n, Zapier, or similar automation platforms.
Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, especially for writing custom functions in n8n.
Deep understanding of OpenAI tools: GPT-4/4o, embeddings, assistants API, function calling, etc.
Experience with REST APIs, webhooks, JSON, and OAuth2.
Familiarity with vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Weaviate, or Qdrant) and AI document search architectures.
Experience with data parsing, transformation, and automation of content-related tasks (emails, forms, spreadsheets, etc.).
Soft Skills:
Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Ability to translate business needs into technical automation solutions.
Self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Nice to Have
Experience with AI assistants and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines.
Prior work in DevOps, support automation, or workflow orchestration roles.
Knowledge of platforms like Notion, Slack, Airtable, Google Workspace, and CRMs (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce).
Open-source contributions or plugin development for n8n or automation communities.
