As the Legal Officer you will play a vital role in safeguarding the organization’s legal interests and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. You will provide legal advisory support across departments, draft and review contracts, monitor regulatory changes, and manage legal risks associated with business operations. The Legal Officer will also be instrumental in supporting corporate governance, dispute resolution, and legal documentation processes.
This position requires a highly analytical, detail-oriented, and trustworthy professional who understands business operations and can offer strategic legal insight and timely support in a fast-paced environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Legal Advisory & Risk Management
- Provide expert legal advice to the management team and internal departments on contracts, partnerships, and compliance matters.
- Identify potential legal risks in operations, policies, and procedures and propose mitigation strategies.
- Conduct legal research and provide timely legal opinions and updates on new regulations.
Contract Management
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements including MOUs, partnership agreements, service-level agreements, NDAs, and employment contracts.
- Ensure all legal documents are accurate, clear, and aligned with the company’s objectives and legal standards.
- Maintain an organized database of legal documents and ensure version control.
Compliance & Corporate Governance
- Monitor compliance with statutory requirements including CAC filings, tax obligations, and regulatory licenses.
- Support the preparation and filing of company resolutions, board meeting minutes, and legal disclosures.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies (CAC, FIRS, PENCOM, etc.) to ensure corporate compliance and licensing.
Dispute Resolution & Litigation Support
- Coordinate with external counsel in the management of litigation, arbitration, and legal disputes.
- Support internal investigations, disciplinary hearings, and compliance audits.
- Draft and respond to legal correspondence including demand letters, legal notices, and responses.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Education
- LL.B degree from a recognized university.
- Postgraduate qualification in Corporate Law or related field is an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant post-call experience in corporate legal practice or in-house legal advisory roles.
- Demonstrated experience in contract drafting, risk assessment, and legal compliance.
- Familiarity with Nigerian commercial law, labor law, and regulatory frameworks.
Skills and Competencies
- Excellent legal drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational ability.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and legal research tools.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Start Date: Immediate
Hours: Full-time role with occasional travel for legal proceedings, stakeholder meetings, and regulatory engagements.

Pay: ₦250,000.00 - ₦500,000.00 per month
