Position Title: Insurance Risk Management Specialist
Reports to: Director of Finance and Accounting
OVERVIEW:
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Insurance Risk Management Specialist will play a critical role in identifying, analyzing, mitigating, and managing risk exposures across a multi-state Security Guard and Patrol Services provider. This position is responsible for evaluating insurance needs, ensuring compliance with contractual and regulatory insurance requirements, overseeing claims management, and implementing proactive risk reduction strategies. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of insurance policies, liability mitigation, and the unique risks associated with the security services industry.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Insurance Program Management: Administer all aspects of the company’s insurance portfolio including general liability, workers’ compensation, auto, professional liability, and umbrella policies. Coordinate policy renewals, endorsements, and audits to ensure adequate coverage at competitive rates.
- Risk Identification & Mitigation: Conduct regular risk assessments of company operations, contracts, and job sites. Recommend and implement risk control measures tailored to the security services industry to reduce liability exposure.
- Claims Management: Oversee and coordinate the end-to-end claims process with brokers, adjusters, and third-party administrators. Track, report, and analyze claims data to identify trends and reduce future losses.
- Compliance & Contract Review: Review client contracts, leases, and vendor agreements to ensure insurance requirements are met and risk exposures are appropriately addressed. Ensure compliance with state, federal, and industry regulations.
- Training & Education: Collaborate with Human Resources and Operations to support safety training, injury prevention programs, and insurance policy education for field and administrative staff.
- Insurance Certificate Management: Maintain accurate records of certificates of insurance for internal operations and ensure receipt of valid COIs from subcontractors and vendors.
- Incident Review & Investigations: Participate in incident reviews, post-incident investigations, and after-action reporting to evaluate cause and recommend improvements.
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Prepare quarterly and annual risk assessment reports, loss-run analysis, and insurance cost trend forecasts for executive leadership.
PROPOSED WORK SCHEDULE:
Days: Monday – Friday (Virtual / Remote Position)
Schedule: 1:00pm to 10:00pm (Nigerian Time Zone)
(1-hour unpaid lunch break)
8:00am to 5:00pm (U.S. Based, Eastern Standard Time)
Hours: 40 hours per week minimum
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2–3 years of relevant experience in insurance or risk management, preferably in the security, law enforcement, or service-based industries.
- Relevant Insurance Risk Management Certification preferred.
- Strong knowledge of commercial insurance products and risk control techniques.
- Proficiency in claims systems and insurance certificate management platforms.
- Excellent written, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams.
- Familiarity with international occupational safety regulations, state labor laws, and security-specific liability exposures is a plus.
