Role:
We are a reputable Muslim school seeking an active, smart, and experienced House Manager to assist in managing and overseeing the boarding house facilities. As a role model and mentor, the Manager will provide care and supervision to children and teenagers, ensuring their safety, wellbeing, and development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide a friendly, caring, and safe environment for all boarders.
- Monitor students' emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being.
- Care for sick students, referring to healthcare providers when necessary.
- Encourage and support students’ academic, personal, and behavioural growth.
- Implement and oversee Health and Safety regulations, including sign-in/sign-out procedures.
- Ensure appropriate consequences for behavioural concerns, striving for restorative justice and positive outcomes.
- Foster a disciplined and respectful environment aligned with school values.
- Monitor and supervise students' daily activities (prep, prayers, sports, dining, laundry, etc.).
- Be on call for emergency situations.
- Maintain detailed records of student concerns, behaviours, and communications with parents.
- Liaise regularly with the Principal, School Counsellor, and Hostel Committee Chairman on student welfare and hostel operations.
- Submit fortnightly reports to the school principal.
- Utilize technology for record-keeping, communication, and administrative tasks.
- Maintain a cohesive and effective team, ensuring regular communication.
- Supervise and manage boarding house operations, including facilities and daily routines.
- Maintain hygiene standards and ensure proper upkeep of hostel facilities.
- Organize activities and outings for boarders, supporting hostel traditions.
- Host parent visiting days and maintain excellent relationships with hostel families.
- Support links between the school and hostel, helping each student reach their full potential.
- Attend school and hostel events, valuing the institution’s traditions.
- Foster feedback and input for continuous improvement.
Requirements:
- Must be a practicing Muslim. Age 35 and above preferred.
- Previous experience in boarding house management, or a similar role.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to foster a structured, disciplined, yet nurturing environment.
- Understanding of child welfare, safeguarding policies, and conflict resolution.
- Proficiency in record-keeping, administrative duties, and use of technology.
- Strong emotional intelligence, problem-solving abilities, and ability to manage children and teenagers effectively.
- Ability to teach basic subjects.
- Tech-savvy.
Qualifications and skills:
- A diploma or degree in Education, Health, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
- A background in nursing, teaching, or counselling is often preferred, as the role involves student welfare and health management.
- First Aid and Child Safeguarding certifications are highly beneficial.
- Training in conflict resolution, emotional intelligence, and behavioural management.
- Knowledge of health and hygiene regulations for residential facilities.
