Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities:
Financial Management & Reporting:
- Oversee all accounting operations (bookkeeping, invoicing, payroll, tax filings).
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (P&L, balance sheets, cash flow reports). Ensure accurate recording of property sales, rentals, and project costs.
Budgeting & Cost Control:
- Develop and monitor annual budgets for projects and operations.
- Track expenses, identify cost-saving opportunities, and prevent financial leaks. Analyze project profitability and advise management on financial risks.
Regulatory Compliance & Taxation:
- Ensure compliance with FIRS (Federal Inland Revenue Service), LIRS (Lagos State IRS), and IFRS standards.
- Handle VAT, WHT, PAYE, and Company Income Tax (CIT) filings. Liaise with auditors for annual audits and financial reviews.
Cash Flow & Treasury Management:
- Monitor daily cash flow to ensure liquidity for operations and projects.
- Manage bank relationships, loans, and financing arrangements. Oversee client payments, developer funds, and escrow accounts.
Internal Controls & Fraud Prevention:
- Implement strong internal controls to prevent fraud and financial mismanagement.
- Conduct periodic financial audits and reconciliations. Ensure proper documentation for property transactions and contracts.
Strategic Financial Advisory:
- Provide insights on investment decisions, funding options, and financial planning.
- Advise management on pricing strategies, ROI analysis, and market trends. Support fundraising, joint ventures, and investor relations.
Team Leadership & Process Improvement:
- Supervise the finance & accounting team (accountants, auditors, clerks).
- Automate processes using accounting software (QuickBooks, SAP, Sage). Train staff on best practices in real estate accounting.
Requirements:
- BSc. Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or similar course of study
- 7-10 years of experience is required.
