Job Summary
We are looking for a hands-on and reliable Fiber Installation Support Technician to join our field operations team. The ideal candidate will support critical installation tasks including cable linking, HDPE duct laying, thrust boring , and general fieldwork. This position requires physical strength, technical competence, and readiness to work in diverse environments—both indoors and outdoors.
Key Responsibilities
Fiber Cable Installation : Assist with the linking and routing of fiber optic cables through ducts, conduits, and designated cable paths.
HDPE Duct Laying : Support the laying of underground and surface High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) ducts for cable protection.
Conduit Work & Docking : Help with interlock removal, cable docking, and structured cable routing in field conditions.
Thrust Boring Support : Assist in boring operations under roads or solid surfaces to create safe passageways for cable infrastructure.
Field Support : Provide hands-on support during installation, splicing, and maintenance operations, including basic troubleshooting.
Safety Compliance : Adhere strictly to all safety protocols. Wear appropriate PPE and report any work hazards or unsafe conditions.
Documentation : Record field activities, cable routes, materials used, and challenges faced during installation.
Team Collaboration : Work closely with field engineers, project leads, and team members to complete installations on schedule.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience:
Education : OND, Diploma, or Degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or any relevant technical field .
Experience : Minimum of 1 year of experience in fiber installation or telecom-related field operations.
Certifications : Fiber optic installation or telecom fieldwork certifications will be an advantage.
Core Skills & Competencies
Knowledge of fiber optic cable handling and HDPE duct systems .
Physically fit and able to perform manual labor , including cable pulling, duct laying, and site preparation.
Familiarity with basic site layouts and technical drawings .
Strong teamwork and communication abilities.
High level of reliability, integrity, and punctuality .
Willingness to work under variable weather and site conditions.
