Role Overview
The Digital and Content Manager is a dynamic volunteer role responsible for managing Heroes Help’s digital presence, including website, social media platforms, and email marketing. The postholder will produce engaging content across multiple formats to tell compelling stories, attract new supporters, and deepen engagement with the Armed Forces community.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about digital media, storytelling, and audience development.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and update the Heroes Help website with timely, accessible, and compelling content.
Create and publish engaging content for blogs, social media, email newsletters, and digital campaigns.
Develop video, audio, and graphic content to promote services, events, fundraising, and advocacy.
Assisting to manage and grow social media channels, including content calendars, scheduling, and community engagement.
Monitor digital analytics and user behaviour to optimise strategies and improve reach.
Oversee SEO, PPC, and integration of digital fundraising/campaigning tools.
Collaborate with Fundraising and Programmes teams to align messaging and supporter journeys.
Stay updated on digital trends, tools, and innovations relevant to nonprofit audiences.
Competencies Required
Excellent digital storytelling, content creation, and writing skills.
Experience managing websites, social media accounts, or digital campaigns.
Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
Knowledge of analytics tools and digital optimisation techniques.
Experience with WordPress, Canva, video editing tools, or podcast platforms.
Familiarity with the charity sector or Armed Forces-related causes.
Understanding of accessibility, inclusion, and trauma-informed content design.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Certification in Digital Marketing, SEO, Content Strategy, or Multimedia Production.
Best practices in inclusive, trauma-informed, or accessible content creation.
Strong knowledge of digital channels, user engagement tactics, and nonprofit communications.
Skills in social media management, CMS platforms, email marketing, and analytics.
At least 2 years of experience in digital communications or content development.
Experience with SEO, PPC, design editing tools, and multimedia storytelling.
Experience working on campaigns related to military, health, or community causes.
