Job Description: Civic Education TeacherPosition Overview
We are looking for a knowledgeable and committed Civic Education Teacher to join our academic team. The teacher will play a key role in helping students develop an understanding of civic responsibilities, governance, democracy, human rights, and values that promote responsible citizenship. The ideal candidate should be passionate about shaping young people into active, ethical, and engaged members of society.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons in Civic Education in line with national curriculum standards (Nigerian Curriculum/WAEC/NECO).
- Teach students topics such as democracy, rule of law, governance, civic responsibilities, constitution, rights & duties of citizens, and national values.
- Develop learners’ critical thinking, ethical decision-making, and problem-solving skills through real-life examples and interactive teaching methods.
- Use a variety of instructional strategies such as debates, role-plays, case studies, group projects, and digital tools to enhance learning.
- Prepare students for internal and external examinations (Junior WAEC, WAEC, NECO, etc.).
- Assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and maintain accurate academic records.
- Create a classroom environment that promotes respect, participation, and open dialogue.
- Encourage civic participation by involving students in school and community service projects.
- Collaborate with colleagues to integrate Civic Education into cross-curricular learning opportunities.
- Stay updated with national policies, current events, and developments in civic and citizenship education.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civic Education, Political Science, Social Studies, Law, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree is an advantage).
- Minimum of 2–3 years teaching experience in Civic Education or related subjects.
- Strong knowledge of Nigerian constitution, governance systems, and civic values.
- Familiarity with national examination requirements (BECE, WAEC, NECO).
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: ₦160,000.00 - ₦180,000.00 per month
