Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Procurement Officer to assist the procurement manager and support our procurement operations within the oil and gas sector. The successful candidate will assist in sourcing reliable vendors, managing procurement documentation, ensuring timely delivery of materials and services, and maintaining compliance with industry standards and internal policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in sourcing qualified suppliers for equipment, materials, and services in line with oil & gas standards
- Support the preparation of RFQs (Request for Quotations), bid evaluations, and purchase orders
- Follow up on vendor deliveries and ensure timely supply of critical items
- Liaise with technical and operations teams to understand material specifications
- Track and update procurement logs, supplier databases, and documentation
- Assist in negotiating favorable pricing, terms, and conditions with vendors
- Monitor vendor performance and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards
- Ensure compliance with procurement policies, regulatory requirements (e.g., NUPRC, NMDPRA), and local content regulations
- Help with vendor registration processes on platforms like NIPEX, NCDMB, and other industry portals
- Work closely with the finance department to ensure timely processing of vendor payments
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field
- 1–2 years experience in a procurement or supply chain role (preferably in oil & gas)
- Knowledge of procurement standards and procedures in the oil and gas industry
- Familiarity with industry regulatory bodies (NUPRC, NCDMB, NIPEX, NMDPRA)
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel); knowledge of ERP systems (SAP, Oracle) is a plus
- Good organizational and time management skills
- High level of integrity and accountability
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: ₦150,000.00 - ₦200,000.00 per month
