Job Summary:
We are seeking a competent and detail-oriented Accountant with proven experience in the hospitality industry. The ideal candidate should possess a solid understanding of hotel accounting operations, financial reporting, tax compliance, and internal controls. Candidates must have at least one year of ICAN certification or be at the professional stage, with the capability to deliver timely and accurate financial analysis that supports business strategy and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Record Keeping:
Accurately record all financial transactions including income, expenses, supplier payments, and customer receipts.
Maintain proper documentation in compliance with Nigerian accounting standards and hospitality industry protocols.
Financial Reporting:
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (e.g., balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports).
Provide management with insightful financial analysis and variance reports.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
Work collaboratively with department heads to ensure realistic and achievable planning.
Cost Control & Efficiency:
Monitor departmental expenditures and highlight cost-saving opportunities.
Implement and track initiatives to reduce costs without compromising service quality.
Payroll Administration:
Process staff salaries, benefits, and statutory deductions (PAYE, pensions, etc.).
Ensure timely reconciliation of payroll in collaboration with HR.
Tax and Regulatory Compliance:
Prepare and file tax returns (VAT, WHT, PAYE, CIT).
Ensure compliance with FIRS, LIRS, and other financial regulations.
Cash Flow & Bank Reconciliation:
Monitor daily cash flow and ensure adequate liquidity for operations.
Reconcile all bank transactions and manage day-to-day banking activities.
Inventory and Asset Management:
Track inventory usage across operational units (e.g., kitchen, bar, housekeeping).
Maintain up-to-date fixed asset registers and manage depreciation schedules.
Audit Preparation and Support:
Support both internal and external audit processes by providing required documentation.
Respond to audit queries and implement recommended actions.
Revenue and Performance Monitoring:
Analyze key performance indicators such as RevPAR, ADR, and Occupancy Rate.
Collaborate with sales and operations to optimize pricing and improve profitability.
Internal Controls & Best Practices:
Develop and maintain internal financial control systems to ensure transparency and accountability.
Periodically review and enhance financial processes to align with industry best practices.
Requirements
Qualifications:
B.Sc. or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Minimum of 3–5 years accounting experience in the hospitality sector.
ICAN certification (minimum of one year certified or at the professional stage).
In-depth knowledge of Nigerian tax laws and statutory requirements.
Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or hospitality ERP systems.
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and integrity.
Excellent analytical and communication skills.
