As we scale, we are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Accountant to support our finance operations, ensure accurate reporting, and maintain strong financial controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Bookkeeping & Transactions
- Maintain day-to-day financial records, including accounts payable and receivable, expense tracking, and bank reconciliations.
- Ensure accurate posting of transactions in accounting software.
- Invoicing & Collections
- Prepare and issue client invoices in line with contract terms.
- Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on overdue payments.
- Payroll Support
- Assist in processing monthly payroll, including PAYE, commission, pensions, and staff reimbursements.
- Ensure compliance with statutory deductions and reporting requirements.
- Financial Reporting
- Prepare monthly management reports (P&L, cash flow, balance sheet).
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Compliance & Tax
- Support tax filings including VAT, PAYE, and corporate tax returns.
- Liaise with external auditors and tax authorities where needed.
- Process Improvement
- Implement / recommend improvements to streamline financial operations and reporting.
- Help implement accounting best practices suitable for a growing start-up.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 3–5 years of relevant experience
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Sage)
- Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills
- Understanding of Nigerian tax regulations and financial reporting standards
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and integrity
