We pride ourselves on bringing the highest standards of journalism to the African continent. We are based in Lagos, Nigeria.
About the Role
We are currently hiring a Multimedia Storyteller. This is a creative strategist and sharp executor who will shape how our stories, brand and ideas connect with the world. This is a hybrid role for someone who can both think big and deliver with tasteful precision across digital platforms.
You’ll be responsible for generating high-impact ideas and executing them to an exceptional standard across text, visuals and short-form video. From campaign strategy to Instagram reels, from newsletter copy to media kits, you’ll lead the storytelling vision and bring it to life across every touchpoint.
This opportunity is only open to candidates based in Lagos, Nigeria. The deadline for applying is 20 June 2025. This is a hybrid position and will require regular attendance at our office, 2-3 days each week. We are a media company and, as such, you may be required to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
What You'll Do:
- Develop and execute public-facing campaigns around our stories, magazine issues, partnerships and events
- Write, edit, and publish sharp, engaging copy for social media, newsletters, marketing materials, and press
- Create and oversee the production of visual assets: graphics, animations, photo treatments and short videos
- Manage our platform strategy across multiple platforms including Instagram, X, LinkedIn, Facebook, TikTok, Spotify, YouTube and our email newsletter services
- Monitor engagement analytics and adjust content strategies accordingly
- Develop and coordinate content calendars and campaign timelines across teams. Ensure brand tone, voice and visual identity are consistent, refined and compelling
The Skills We're Looking For:
- Exceptional bachelor’s degree in communications, social sciences or a related field. (The Republic team members have typically graduated among the top of their class; graduate degrees—MA/MBA/MSc/PhD—strongly encouraged.)
- 4+ years of post NYSC full-time professional experience in a communications role, preferably in prestigious brand agencies, media, publishing, research, wider culture and/or related fields.
- Proven ability to create and execute campaigns end-to-end
- Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong design sensibility and experience using tools like Canva, Adobe Suite, Figma, etc.
- Familiarity with basic video editing or short-form video creation (e.g. CapCut, Reels, TikTok, motion graphics)
- Strong understanding of digital marketing, social media and newsletter strategy and analytics.
- Proficiency with social media and newsletter design tools such as Buffer, Later, Canva and Mailchimp as well as extensive experience with productivity tools such as Notion and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to anticipate needs and handle multiple priorities. Passion for African journalism and an understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities in the African media landscape.
What We Offer:
- Competitive salary. For this role, our offer is N700,000 (net) per month.
- Hybrid working arrangement with 2-3 office days only.
- Pension plan and healthcare coverage.
- Office equipment and remote work allowance (laptop, phone; monthly phone airtime up to N20,000; monthly internet subscription up to N20,000).
- Lunch provision on office days and transportation coverage on office days via professional commuting service.
- 15 annual leave days. Two weeks general office closure over year-end holidays between December and January.
