Job Title: Restaurant Accountant
Location: Lagos (Open to travel)
Reports To: Restaurant Manager / Owner
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Restaurant Accountant to oversee and manage the financial aspects of our restaurant operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for budgeting, cost control, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. This role plays a critical part in the success of our business by helping us make informed financial decisions and maintain profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and general ledger entries.
- Reconcile daily sales, deposits, and cash transactions.
- Oversee inventory accounting and cost control for food and beverage items.
- Prepare budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations and file necessary tax documents (e.g., VAT, GST, sales tax).
- Monitor vendor invoices and ensure timely payments.
- Conduct financial audits and provide insights to reduce costs and increase profitability.
- Collaborate with restaurant management to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Implement and maintain accounting systems and internal controls.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Proven experience as an accountant in the hospitality or restaurant industry (4+ years preferred).
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, or restaurant-specific systems like Restaurant365).
- Strong knowledge of financial regulations and bookkeeping practices.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA or CMA certification is a plus.
- Familiarity with POS systems (e.g., Toast, Square, or Lightspeed).
- Experience with inventory management software.
