The Recovery Officer is responsible for monitoring and following up on outstanding debts, negotiating repayment plans with clients, and ensuring timely recovery of funds. The role requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, as well as the ability to manage difficult conversations with professionalism and empathy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contact customers with overdue accounts through phone calls, emails, and visits.
- Negotiate repayment schedules and settlements in line with company policies.
- Monitor customer accounts to identify outstanding debts and take proactive recovery actions.
- Maintain accurate records of all collection activities and customer interactions.
- Liaise with the legal team on accounts requiring escalation to legal action.
- Prepare and submit periodic reports on recovery performance and outstanding accounts.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies during recovery processes.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with customers while enforcing repayment commitments.
- Recommend strategies to improve debt recovery processes.
Requirements & Skills:
- Knowledge of debt recovery regulations and best practices.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and persuasion skills.
- Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to handle pressure and manage conflict professionally.
- Proficiency in MS Office
