Job Description/Requirements
Hurrikaine Media is seeking a highly skilled and imaginative Video Editor & Motion Graphics Designer to join our growing creative team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for editing high-quality video content, creating engaging motion graphics, and bringing visual ideas to life across various digital platforms. You will work closely with content strategists, creative directors, and on-set teams to craft compelling visual stories that captivate and convert audiences.
The ideal candidate is both technically proficient and creatively driven, with a strong eye for detail and a passion for storytelling through video and animation. If you're someone who thrives in a fast-paced agency environment and can take a concept from storyboard to screen — we’d love to meet you.
Key Responsibilities
Video Editing & Content Creation
- Edit short- and long-form videos for social media, YouTube, campaigns, ads, reels, and documentaries.
- Bring a creative perspective to every edit — rhythm, mood, tone, and storytelling must stand out.
- Use editing software like Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, CapCut, VN, and more. Collaborate with the team to understand each project's goals and bring them to life with speed and quality.
Motion Graphics & Animation
- Create high-quality motion graphics for intros, lower thirds, transitions, explainer videos, and brand elements.
- Design animated graphics that support brand stories, campaigns, and digital experiences. Use tools like After Effects, Adobe Animate, Canva Pro (for motion), and other visual tools to create sleek animations.
Mobile & iPhone Videography
- Shoot high-quality mobile video content (iPhone) when needed for BTS, short content, or fast-turnaround reels.
- Support video shoots with understanding of basic framing, lighting, and sound — even in agile settings. Work closely with the Creative and On-set team to capture spontaneous, culturally relevant visuals.
Collaboration & Initiative
- Collaborate with the creative team to conceptualize and storyboard ideas when needed.
- Contribute actively to brainstorms and creative direction.
- Take initiative to learn new tools, explore design trends, and adapt quickly to feedback. Be open to upskilling and experimenting with emerging formats and platforms.
Required Skills & Tools
- Software Proficiency: Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, CapCut, Filmora, Canva Pro, VN, etc.
- Design Tools: Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator), Figma (a plus), and animation platforms.
- Understanding of frame composition, pacing, color grading, and storytelling.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines. A solid portfolio showing video edits, motion design, and social-first content.
Who You Are
- A highly creative thinker with an eye for good visuals.
- A team player who brings energy and clarity to projects.
- Fast, self-motivated, and ready to own projects from idea to final cut.
- Able to take and give feedback constructively.
- Curious and excited about African storytelling, culture, and digital media.
- Based in or around Lekki Phase 1 and willing to work on-site 2–3 times a week. Someone who’s eager to learn, ready to impact, and passionate about what they do.
