About You
We are looking for a diligent and analytical Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Officer to join our client’s team. The MEL officer will play a pivotal role in tracking and evaluating the performance and outcomes of all projects and activities to ensure data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement.
This role requires a detail-oriented individual with experience in designing MEL frameworks, conducting research, analyzing data, and facilitating learning across projects. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with program teams to enhance the effectiveness, relevance, and sustainability of interventions.
Your duties
- Manage and oversee the effective monitoring, evaluation, and learning of all the organization’s projects and activities.
- Support and advice on monitoring and evaluation of projects and activities.
- Work closely with the project officer and other project team members to ensure excellent data and impact reporting on all projects.
- Design and monitor project work plans and log frames; initiate and oversee research and data collection for all projects and activities.
- Assist in internal evaluation and quality assessment of project data.
- Maintain the project database for learning outcomes.
- Work with staff from various projects to review project performance and project against established baselines and annual indicator targets. Supporting other project activities in the organization.
Qualifications
- A first degree, preferably in statistics, social sciences, or related fields. A master’s degree in a relevant field is an advantage;
- Minimum of two years of relevant work experience in Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) with a non-governmental organisation or social enterprise on a donor-funded project;
- Strong technical understanding of MEL frameworks, results-based management, and logical frameworks especially within health, governance, or youth-focused programmes;
- Experience in designing data collection tools, conducting field monitoring visits, and generating reports that inform programme improvement;
- Proficiency in data analysis software such as SPSS, STATA, or Excel. Experience with mobile data collection platforms like KoboToolbox and ODK is a plus;
- Demonstrated ability to analyse quantitative and qualitative data and prepare high-quality reports with excellent writing and verbal communication skills for compiling MEL reports, learning briefs, and success stories;
- Ability to work comfortably with major Microsoft Office tools and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, etc.); Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple tasks independently or in a team setting;
