Job Title: Microbiologist
Location: Ogere-Shagamu, Ogun State
Key Responsibilities:
- Microbiological Testing:
Conducting tests on food samples, raw materials, and production environments to detect the presence of pathogens like Salmonella, Listeria, and E. coli.
- Data Analysis:
Analyzing test results, identifying microorganisms, and interpreting data to assess potential risks.
- Developing and Implementing Procedures:
Creating and implementing methods for isolating, cultivating, and identifying microorganisms, as well as developing strategies to control microbial growth.
- Quality Control:
Ensuring that food products meet quality standards by monitoring microbial contamination throughout the production process.
- Research and Development:
Investigating microbial behavior in food, developing new technologies for food safety and preservation, and staying updated on advancements in the field.
- Regulatory Compliance:
Ensuring that food production processes and products comply with relevant food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Collaboration:
Working with other scientists, production teams, and regulatory agencies to ensure food safety and quality.
- Documentation and Reporting:
Maintaining accurate records of tests, analysis, and investigations, and preparing reports for management and other stakeholders.
Skills and Qualifications:
- BSc/HND in microbiology, biochemistry, or related
- 3-5 years of experience as a microbiologist
- Strong knowledge of microbiology, including microbial physiology, genetics, and ecology.
- Proficiency in laboratory techniques, including microscopy, culture methods, and molecular diagnostics.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and quality control procedures.
