Job Title: Design Engineer (Solar Energy)

Location: Lagos, Nigeria

Reports to: Head of Engineering

Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Design Engineer with 2-3 years’ experience in the solar energy sector to join our growing Engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing efficient, code-compliant, and financially viable solar PV systems, supporting both pre-construction and construction phases of our projects.

Key Responsibilities

1) Perform site evaluations and shade analysis using tools such as PVsyst, Helioscope, and similar platforms.

2) Develop comprehensive PV system layouts, including electrical schematics, mounting structures, and interconnection plans.

3) Conduct energy yield simulations and financial feasibility assessments to evaluate project viability.

4) Ensure all designs comply with local codes, utility regulations, and client-specific requirements.

5) Prepare technical documentation, including bill of materials (BOM), permit drawings, and construction packages. Collaborate with procurement and construction teams to provide design clarifications during project execution.

6) Stay abreast of solar industry advancements, particularly in energy storage, hybrid systems, and smart inverter technologies.

Requirements

1) Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or a related field.

2) 2-3 years of hands-on experience in solar PV system design and modeling.

3) Proficiency in PV design tools such as PVsyst, Helioscope, AutoCAD, and SketchUp.

4) Strong understanding of solar system components, including inverters, mounting structures, and batteries.

5) Familiarity with local permitting processes, grid interconnection standards, and regulatory requirements.

6) Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
