Job Summary
To ensure the optimal performance, security, and maintenance of the school and server room infrastructure, ensuring uninterrupted access to IT systems and services. The IT Server Room Technician is responsible for managing and maintaining the school and server hardware, network infrastructure, and backup systems. This role ensures the availability, efficiency, and security of critical IT services.
Primary Responsibilities
- Maintain and monitor server hardware, storage systems, and network devices
- Ensure the availability and reliability of IT services by performing routine checks and maintenance
- Implement and enforce server room security policies and procedures
- Monitor and maintain all installed CCTV
- Trouble shoot CCTV and the server where and when necessary
- Manage user access and permissions for critical IT systems
- Perform regular backups and ensure data recovery readiness
- Troubleshoot hardware, network, and software issues in the server room
- Ensure proper ventilation, cooling, and power supply management for servers
- Install and configure servers, network switches, and related IT equipment
- Monitor system performance and optimise server efficiency
- Keep up with software updates, patches, and security upgrades
- Maintain documentation of system configurations, incidents, and maintenance activities
- Collaborate with external vendors for procurement, repairs, and upgrades
- Assist in IT infrastructure expansion and implementation of new technologies
- Support IT security measures such as firewall configurations and antivirus updates
- Participate in disaster recovery and business continuity planning
Minimum Eligibility Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in IT infrastructure management within a corporate setting.
- Certifications such as CompTIA Server+, Cisco CCNA, or Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Administration are a plus.
- Strong understanding of network protocols, virtualisation, and cloud computing.
- Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions.
- Familiarity with IT service management frameworks (e.g. ITIL).
- Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Experience in an educational institution is a plus.
Location
Abuja, FCT
Salary & Benefits: Salary range approximately between N500,000 - N570,000 monthly gross salary (point on scale determined by skills, knowledge and experience). Benefits include Pension, HMO, Staff bus, and Performance Related Bonus.
