Position Summary:
We are looking for an experienced and results-driven Farm Manager to oversee the operations of our fish processing facility in Ilorin. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing staff, ensuring efficient fish processing operations, maintaining product quality, and implementing best practices in hygiene, safety, and productivity. This role requires strong leadership, organisational skills, and technical knowledge of aquaculture or food processing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily fish processing activities including cleaning, filleting, drying, smoking, packaging, and storage.
- Manage and supervise processing staff to ensure productivity and compliance with company standards.
- Monitor product quality and enforce hygiene, food safety, and operational protocols.
- Maintain and ensure proper functioning of all processing equipment.
- Plan and schedule production to meet demand and delivery deadlines.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with procurement for supplies and raw materials.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations on food processing, health, and safety.
- Train and develop staff for continuous improvement.
- Prepare regular operational and production reports for management.
- Implement cost-control measures to maximise efficiency and reduce waste.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Aquaculture, Food Science, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in aquaculture, fish processing, or food production management.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Sound knowledge of fish processing techniques and food safety standards.
- Ability to work in fast-paced environments and meet deadlines.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Proficient in record-keeping and reporting.
Working Conditions:
- On-site role in Ilorin, Kwara State.
- Requires flexibility to work extended hours or weekends during peak production seasons.
- May involve working in wet, cold, or warm environments.
