Job Description/Requirements
Job Summary:
The Demand Planner is responsible for forecasting product demand to ensure optimal inventory levels, minimize stockouts, and reduce excess inventory. This role involves analyzing sales trends, market conditions, and supply chain data to develop accurate demand forecasts. The Demand Planner collaborates with Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Finance teams to align business strategies with inventory planning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Demand Forecasting:
- Develop and maintain statistical demand forecasts using historical sales data, market trends, and business intelligence.
- Adjust forecasts based on promotions, new product launches, seasonality, and market shifts.
- Utilize forecasting tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Kinaxis, Excel) to improve accuracy.
- Data Analysis & Reporting:
- Analyze sales performance, inventory levels, and supply chain constraints.
- Prepare and present demand planning reports to stakeholders.
- Identify demand risks and opportunities, recommending corrective actions.
- Collaboration & Alignment:
- Work closely with Sales, Marketing, and Supply Chain to align forecasts with business strategies.
- Participate in S&OP (Sales & Operations Planning) meetings to ensure consensus on demand plans.
- Communicate forecast changes to procurement and production teams.
- Inventory Optimization:
- Monitor inventory levels to prevent stockouts or overstock situations.
- Recommend replenishment strategies based on lead times and demand variability.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify process improvements to enhance forecast accuracy.
- Stay updated on industry trends, competitor activities, and economic factors affecting demand.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Statistics, Economics, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in demand planning, supply chain, or inventory management (preferably in home appliances, consumer electronics, or FMCG ).
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle) and demand planning software (e.g., Kinaxis, JDA, Logility).
- Proficiency in advanced Excel (pivot tables, statistical functions) and data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau).
Key Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to interpret large datasets and translate them into actionable insights.
- Knowledge of statistical forecasting methods (moving averages, exponential smoothing, regression analysis).
- Understanding of supply chain dynamics (lead times, production cycles, distribution networks).
